£17.12m - £21.4m suggest Genk for Wilfred Ndidi

TRANSFER TALK

As expected, it didn't take long for Genk CEO Patrick Janssens and sporting director Dimitri De Conde Sporzato start throwing silly amounts at potential transfer targets. I did speculate that Genk were releasing stories to the press in an attempt to push up his transfer fee and media reports now suggest 20 to 25 million euros as being reasonable for an exceptional talent.

I thought Memphis Depay was supposed to be an exceptional talent and Manchester United overpaid for him, we overpaid for Moussa Sissoko, clubs need to get a grip and stop doing it. The Sporting Director confirmed there was plenty of interest in potential Tottenham target, Wilfred Ndidi.

"It is not easy to keep them here. Let's go fight. End of January we will have to see. We hope they stay, but I have to prepare for a possible departure. If we can not hold together the team, I have to be ready.
"We do not communicate about amounts, but if you see some young talent produce in Europe -. Bailey and Ndidi are still two of the rising stars under 20 years - I think it is justified such a sum.
"If there is such a megabod, it is difficult to keep them. Then we must also listen to what the players say. They have indicated that they definitely would stay until the end of the season, but that might change.
"The Europa League has also been very important for the players to come into the limelight. When you make a difference at the European level, you awaken the interest of the big clubs. However, I repeat that we will do all we can to hold onto them."
