Wanyama

He was voted Man of th Match by Gary Neville, he was voted Man of th Match by Jermains Jenas on match of the Day and he has been voted Man of the Match by the Tottenham fans as well.

We saw a performance by Wanyama yesterday that I have not seen before. His 26 tackles were more than any other Spurs player in a game this season. He played 31 passes in total with an 83.9% success rate. He collected his yellow card as one of his 5 fouls. He touched the ball 41 times, had one shot which was on target. He played 4 long balls with a 50% accuracy rate.

His awareness came to the fore when he covered for Danny Rose who having been injured was up field and out of position. When we were on the attack he was well advanced so balls coming out he could intercept or steal the ball back and allow us to attack again.

He was constantly slowing Man City down, shielding and pushing players away from goal or breaking up attacks and it was his awareness that allowed him to sprint towards the touchline, steal the ball that led to our first goal, the Kolorov own goal from Danny Rose cross.

Being able to alternate him with Eric Dier gives us some strength in depth in that position now and with Dembele returning our squad looks strong for the next run of fixtures after the international break.
