Tottenham are reportedly interested in 25-year-old (26 next June) Italian international Lorenzo Insigne. Today Roma based Italian newspaper Il Messaggero report that contract extension negotiations between Insigne and Napoli have come to a standstill with the Italian club believing the right-footed left winger cum attacking midfielder is asking for too high a wage.
His last contract extension was in 2014, which tied him to the club until 2019 and this season he has 5 assists in 13 games (10 Serie A, 3 UEFA Champions League). Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool and Wolfsburg are all said to be following the situation in case he becomes available. He is demanding £80,000-a-week, which would fit within our wage structure.
There are reports that his agent is going to meet with Liverpool officials in the next few days and suggestions that he wants to force through a move in January. We'll see.
