Alderweireld out for weeks not months

Spurs fans were overreacting on Twitter when Toby Alderweireld was injured all fearing he would be out for months. I don't know why, as none of them knew what the injury was.

Pain is not an indicator of seriousness and players should be stretchered off as a precaution against doing any further damage. There are pessimists where the glass is always half empty and optimists where the glass is half full.

A successful team has to be led by and full of optimists. A player is injured and you have to wait to scan and assess if there is swelling to an area. It would appear he has bruised nerves in the knee area and will be out for weeks rather than months.

Eric Dier looked comfortable at centre-back when he came on on Saturday and being right-footed it looks as if he will be playing there on Tuesday against Bayer Leverkusen.

“The good thing about Eric is he can play like a midfielder and a centre-back, and can perform good in several positions. That is important and we will see about the decision for Tuesday. It is one option more that we have.”
