Academy, counter-attacks, Paul Mitchell

Our UEFA Youth League match away at Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday 18th October will be broadcasted live on BT Sport 1.

Clive Allen was watching our previous game away to CSKA Moscow before commentating on the senior team. It makes a nice day of football to watch the youth team and then watch the seniors. Before that though we have WBA on Saturday at 3pm at The Hawthorns.

Once again we shall have some former academy players involved. We have used them (Harry Kane, Danny Rose, Josh Onomah, Harry Winks, Tom Carroll) for a total of 737 minutes this season. Only Middlesbrough, Manchester United and Arsenal have given more minutes to academy players.

A constant cry from our fans is that we need more pace in the side to play on the counter-attack, yet only 2 sides since 2011/12 have scored more goals in that fashion.
Manchester City 35
Arsenal 25
Tottenham Hotspur 20
Liverpool 16

French side Marseille, whom we had dealings with for most of the summer, are considering Paul Mitchell for the Head of Recruitment position at the club together with David Friio of Manchester United. You can find the full report at Get French Football News.
