Mkhitaryan unhappy, Depay hopeless, Rooney dropped

TRANSFER TALK

Mkhitaryan unhappy

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a move for 27-year-old (28 next January) Armernian international captain Henrik Mhkitaryan in the summer. The attacking midfielder moved to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund for a fee in excess of £27-million, despite only having a year left on his contract.

Jose Mourinho has been playing him on the right wing and he is reportedly unhappy that he isn't playing the number 10 role, which Wayne Rooney has been playing. Surely though, before you sign for a new club, a new manager, you discuss where you are going to be played. Shouldn't your representatives tie the manager down to specifics and if you aren't happy you'll be playing where you want you don't sign. Has he signed, therefore, for the money and not the football?

Rooney has been told he will have to improve or he'll be sold, it's a pity Sam Allardyce doesn't have that sort of bottle with a 'name' player or Roy Hodgson. Mhkitaryan was dreadful on his debut at the weekend and lasted only 45 minutes before Mourinho took him off.

Now both Rooney and Mhkitaryan have been left out of the UEFA Europa League squad to face Feyenoord tonight and the Armenian didn't even take part in training.

Memphis Depay was dreadful in his first season at United after his overpriced transfer from Holland and this season has been no better for him, he has played just 1 minute!

This summer there were reports that he refuses to ditch his show-off style while trying to impress the new boss. Thus far it hasn't worked and the Europa League is now the route where he'll have to try and salvage his United career. He was left out of the Holland squad and unless he improves will be for sale next summer, if not in January as Mourinho shapes the squad he wants and not the one Van Gaal wanted.

Tottenham will be watching the situation of the two players closely. Simply because they move to other clubs we don't stop watching our targets, we maintain our assessment of them in case things don't work out and they become available.
