Spurs were scouting last night

Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton sent scouts once again to watch transfer target Ademola Lookman, the 18-year-old (19 in October) Chartlton Athletic striker.

Spurs have been watching the youngster for a couple of years now and tried to sign him last summer. There have been reports that we'll try again this summer and if that is unsuccessful, no doubt we'll talk to him before next summer too.

Arsenal and Liverpool are also watching his situation. Clearly clubs think there is a talent in the making with the lad. League Two Cheltenham Town beatLeague One Charlton Athletic 1-0 in the FA cup and scouts were be out in force once again to watch the England Under-19 striker and he was watched at the European Under-19 Championships this summer.

When a player is scouted, they are done so extensively to see how they react in a variety of situations, both good and more importantly adverse. A scout almost forgets the game and concentrates on their target both on and off the ball. It has been suggested that Alex Pritchard was let go for the work he didn't do off the ball, rather than what he could do on the ball.

A scout will keep adding to the picture he sees of a player, adding to what he has seen to build as complete a picture as he can. While there is a lot of statistics involved in scouting today, a pair of eyes is still needed to judge reaction, mentality, and potential.
