Spurs in a race against time to sign Coric

TRANSFER TALK

Tottenham are trying to get a playmaker through the door but it isn't easy and if a player arrives it will be a late on. Central attacking midfielders get inundated with offers and they can pick and choose which one is right for them, they can also wait until the end of a window to try and force their club to sell them for less, especially if the club needs player sales each season to survive.

We are lined with several, Youri Telemans at Anderlecht, Yunus Malli at Mainz, Roberto Pereyra at Juventus, Mario Gotze at Bayern Munich and Franco Vazquez at Palermo to name a few.

Another is 19-year-old (20 next May) Croatian playmaker Ante Coric. He is wanted by Manchester City, he is wanted by Liverpool, Juventus tried to sign him. Coric is quoted as saying he is fed up with being inundated with offers. That won't stop us making at least one more attempt to sign him.

His club Dinamo Zagreb have been drawn against Red Bull Salzburg in the Play-off Round of the UEFA Champions League and if he plays in that on Tuesday 16 August or the second leg a week later he will be cup tied.

That doesn't leave us long, although we could of course sign him and use him in the Premier League.
