Pochettino chasing the other Silva

Mauricio Pochettino is said to be very keen to sign 27-year-old (28 next March) Portuguese central midfielder Adrien Silva.

Silva has been the subject of enquiries from AC Milan and Everton in recent weeks and Tottenham are said to be now showing a very strong interest in him. Initial reports suggest we are looking at a bid of around £12.96-million (€15m  - AUS$21.78m - US$16.77m) according to L'Equipe. Goodness knows where they get that figure from, transfermarkt who are normally under their transfer figure have him at £17-million (€19.67m  - AUS$63.97m - US$49.18m).

He is under contract until 2020 but as he plays at Sporting he should have a release clause in his contract. Generally they do and it increases when they get a wage increase so it is doubtful that a figure around £12-million would be enough. A little digging and that figure appears t be £38-million (€44m  - AUS$28.56m - US$21.99m).

He has played 126 Portuguese league games as a central midfielder, scoring 35 goals and having 13 assists, 25 games as a defensive midfielder scoring 3 goals with 1 assist and 21 games as an attacking midfielder.

Everton received a favourable response when they contacted Silva's agent, he would be interested in a move to the Premier League so this may have helped to step up our interest with the window only have a few weeks left now.
