Some say €5m, some say £1.7m, it simply depends upon where you source your story from, either way we are considering, bidding, showing interest, offering and wanting Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez as the long term successor to Hugo Lloris.

Earlier this summer I reported that the goalkeeping department was one Mauricio Pochettino was looking at. He wants a young to be groomed by Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm to eventually take over. We have already signed 16-year-old (17 next May) Belgian Under-16 keeper Jonathan de Bie this summer, but there will be a need for another keeper before he matures.

Various keepers have been linked with Spurs this summer but we seem to have settled on 21-year-old (22 in December) Pau Lopez as our man, if we can get him for the right price of course. Pochettino has apparently called the player himself and that has convinced him to leave Espanyol, along with the new manager signing a new goalkeeper.

Lopez is reported to want to join Tottenham and he has not signed a new contract for the Spanish LaLiga side after months of negotiations.

He earned rave reviews after his performance against Southampton the other night, the highlights video is below.
