Spurs enquire about attacking midfielder Çalhanoğlu

Tottenham have enquired about 22-year-old (23 next February) Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Hakan Çalhanoğlu, according to his agent. The Turkish international is noted for his free-kick ability.

His agent is Bektas Demirtas and he has Tweeted that Spurs have enquired about his client. That won't please Spurs, if it is genuine, as we like to keep transfer activity secret. He has also confirmed to the press that he has been contacted.

"It is true that Tottenham have registered their interest with me."

Transfermarkt value him at £15.3-million (€14.46m - AUS$21.37m - US$16.29m) and tell us the right-footer is under contract until 2019. He has played 56 Bundesliga games and has 21 international caps. Last season he started 18 games on the left wing (2 goals, 4 assists), 11 as a secondary striker (3.4), 7 as an attacking midfielder (0,1), 7 in central midfield (2.1) and 1 on the right wing (0,0).

German paper Bild suggest Bayer Leverkusen would want £21.22-million(€25m - AUS$36.94m - US$28.17m) for Çalhanoğlu which would make him the most expensive Turkish player ever.

Atletico Madrid have offered £16.98-million(€20m - AUS$29.56m - US$22.51m), barcelona have asked but he turned them down, he wants to play, not spent all his time on the bench.
