Wimmer bid turned down

Tottenham Hotspur - German side Wolfsburg have submitted a bid for 23-year-old (24 in November) Austrian international centre-back Kevin Wimmer which was rejected immediately. He will be needed to start the season with Jan Vertonghen out injured. Even without the injury he wouldn't be sold unless he insisted he wanted to leave and that isn't the case.

Liverpool and West Ham United have both been turned down by former Arsenal centre-back Thomas Vermaelen, who can leave Barcelona and looks like heading to Italy. Inter Milan and Roma are the two main clubs fighting over the 30-year-old Belgian and his is expected to complete a deal soon. His place at Barcelona is being taken by 22-year-old Samuel Umtiti.

Both Inter and Roma have bid around £6.70-million (€8m - AUS$11.82m - US$8.91m) and Barcelona want £8.37-million (€10m - AUS$14.77m - US$11.14m).
