Will Spurs launch a £32.76m bid for Inter striker Icardi

TRANSFER TALK

After news yesterday of Tottenham interest in 23-year-old (24 in October) Argentinian centre-forward Lucas Alario from River Plate, comes further improbably news from Italy and Sky reporter Gianluca di Marco.

He claims that Spurs are about to launch a £32.76-million (€45m - AUS$66.85m - US$50.12m) bid for  23-year-old (24 next February) Argentinian forward Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan. He goes on to say Atletico Madrid are interested, although their main target is Chelsea striker Diego Costa I believe (and he wants to return to them). Other reports suggest he has turned Atletico down.

Icardi also has offers from China and Argentina where River Plate would like to sign him, it's doubtful they have the financial power to do so though with the greater money available in Europe. he is also one of several targets Arsenal are keeping an eye on, as are PSG while Leicester City have dropped interest now Jamie Vardy is staying..

Di Marzio explains that Tottenham have sent representatives to see his agent and thus an offer muct be imminent. The two do not always go hand in hand. His wages and general conditions will have been discussed as would a likely figure he might be available for.

Inter have new owners but from previous stories regarding Icardi it would appear they have no intention of selling the striker. However Italian agent Nicola Giuliani, who has close contacts at Inter, suggests that Inter would sell for a big fee

"I think Inter Milan could sell Mauro for a big, big price, but it will not be for less than €40-45 million. "He's perfect for English football. Why? Because he's so fast and has excellent technique. He'd be well suited to the Premier League."

It would be a surprise if Spurs did launch a bid when Vincent Janssen is half the price, although he does have to stap up a grade of football, not that that seems to be worrying him at international level..
