Transfer Headlines

Swansea City - Leroy Fer is closing in on a move to Swansea City, the Welsh Premier League side managed by 60-year-old Italian Francesco Guidolin. Fer is a 26-year-old central midfielder currently at QPR who are said to have agreed a fee of £4.75-million (€5.67m - AUS$8.37m - US$6.31m).

He had spent the second half of the season on loan at Swansea and stated his desire to stay there, a wish he now seems to be getting. He may be joined by 23-year-old Dutch centre-back Mike van der Hoorn who is said to have agreed terms with Swansea.

West Ham United - The Hammers seem prepared to throw money around to try and get players to join but few seem to be interested, the lack of guaranteed European football being a big issue. Their manager Slaven Bilic remarked that West Ham are not a big club just because they have got a big new stadium, it takes more than that. De Telegraaf report that they are prepared to pay £16.76-million (€20m - AUS$29.56m - US$22.28m) for Vincent Janssen but he has turned them down, as he has PSG to take the next stage of his career and embark upon the journey Mauricio Pochettino has mapped out for him.

There are rumours that West Ham have met with Chris Smalling's representatives to sound out the possibility of a move. The England defender has been struck down with food poisoning while on holiday in Bali. He has gone to hospital and is recovering according to a Manchester United spokesman.

“Chris has had food poisoning during his holiday which resulted in him fainting yesterday. He was taken to the hospital and is now feeling fine,” a United spokesman said on Monday."

FenerbahceGregory van der Wiel has arrived in Istanbul and has completed his move to Turkish side Fenerbahce. The 28-year-old right-back has signed from PSG on a four-year contract and is likely to be joined by 26-year-old Russian defensive midfielder Roman Neustadter, who  has flown over for talks.
