Spurs bid for Alderweireld cover

German paper SportBild are reporting that Tottenham have entered the race for 22-year-old (23 next January) German centre-back Matthias Ginter from Borussia Dortmund.

They report that Tottenham have made a £12-million (€14.34m - AUS$21.07m - US$15.72m) bid. West Ham United have previously made a £10-million (€11.95m - AUS$17.56m - US$13.10m) bid while Arsenal and Wolfsburg are showing strong interest.

Ginter, who has a contract until 2019, is a right-footed 1.90 m (6 ft 3 in) tall centre-back so would provide cover for Toby Alderweireld. He can also provide cover for right-back and defensive midfield. He has 9 German caps having previously represented them at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 levels. He was in the German squad who won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
