Everton, Sunderland and Aston Villa are rivalling Turkish side Besiktas, and Italian side Torino for 27-year-old Albanian international goalkeeper Etrit Berisha, who has a contract at Lazio until 2017. With just a year left on his contract he would be available for a nominal fee, although Sassuolo have enquired about taking him on loan.

New Lazio boss Marcelo Bielsa, tried to sign 31-year-old free agent Steve Mandanda, but he joined Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace, which may result in Lazio keeping Berisha a while longer.

Liverpool have made a fresh attempt to sign 20-year-old German Under-21 international central midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud. Borussia Monchengladbach have no wish to sell but Syrian born Dahoud has turned down a contract extension on his existing deal which runs out in 2018.

With the arrival of Jose Mourinho at Manchester United you would think the future of 28-year-old Spanish midfielder Juan Mata looks bleak. Everton have had financial backing by new investor Farhad Moshiri so have the funds to pursue the Spanish midfielder. Would Mata want Everton though? You would think he would be looking at a move abroad and a club with a chance of winning something in an easier league.

Real Madrid must pay back £15.27-million (€18.2m - AUS$27.04m - US$20.27m) to Madrid City Council as a consequence of the illegal aid  they received in a compensation deal for land that used inflated values between 1998 and 2011. Diario AS (Daily AS) have published that the European Union will make the fine official next week.
