Palace bid for Vasquez has no chance

talkSPORT are talking rubbish when they claim Crystal Palace are moving to bat Tottenham to the signing of £12-million rated Serie A playmaker Franco Vazquez.

His club president at Palermo, Maurizio Zamparini, has already told Corriere dello Sport they value him at £21.31-million (€25m - AUS$36.90m - US$27.70m) so the Crystal Palace bid, reportedly £10-million (€11.74m - AUS$17.35m - US$13m) hasn't a hope of success.

"It's definitely more likely Vazquez will go to England - I'm asking for 25 million euros (£19.5m) for him. I have lower offers, but for me he's worth as much as (Domenico) Berardi. I can see him doing well anywhere. He's underrated and I don't know why. 

"Unfortunately he's not one who talks much and he doesn't have the kind of character to impose himself. I'm in touch with Tottenham and I've asked them for 25 million euros, so let's see. 

"He could even do well with Leicester. Milan and Roma were interested, but if I see that Berardi is moving for 25 million euros, then I would go for Vazquez."

Pretty clear from all that that Vazquez isn't rated at £12-million and that Palermo want a lot more than £12-million (€14.09m - AUS$20.30m - US$15.60m) for him so suggestion they do appear wide of the mark. Vazquez has revealed he has an agreement with AC Milan, who have been waiting for their takeover to be finalised.

Milan don't want to pay his asking price either though, which for a 27-year-old who didn't make the European Championship squad is set too high, as the Crystal Palace bid shows. His real value is somewhere in between. His president compares him with Domenico Berardi, but Berardi is a striker, not an attacking midfielder and is a 21-year-old, so has 6 years extra football in him, thus a higher sell on value. It's a false comparison.
