Negrado to Middlesbrough

TRANSFER TALK

Middlesbrough are closing in on a loan deal for 30-year-old Spanish striker Alvaro Negrado currently at Valencia. The deal is being help up by financial issues as the North East club have no intention of paying the wage he receives at Valencia.

He had an excellent career in Spain, came to Manchester City and has never been the same player. he is now looking to kick-start his career again and a loan move to a club where he is going to play each week is going to help that.

The deal will be a one-year loan deal with an option to buy at £8.44-million (€10m - AUS$14.55m - US$11.10m). His salary is £113,090-a-week (€140,000 - AUS$195,008 - US$148,693) from his Manchester City days and Valencia still have bills to pay in relation to his move back to Spain. They owe City performance bonuses and appearance payments which Middlesbrough have no intention of covering.

Valencia want them to cover them so a deal is not certain. He is a player the Spaniards need off their books. It shows the problem with signing a player from a bigger club, the add-ons can have a significant impact and moving a player on becomes difficult.
