TRANSFER TALK

Malli price is reduced

The name websites are alltalking about this morning is Younus Malli because the Daily Mail suggest he was a guest at White Hart Lane last season.

The link is not new, we have been scouting the 24-year-old (25 next February) Turkish international attacking midfielder last season, as reported by German paper Bild. He is a player we have been linked with before. We regularly sent a scout to FSW Mainz 05 to see him play and Head of Player Recruitment Rob Mackenzie would have been one of those..

The attacking midfielder was born in Germany and has played through the ranks of German youth football until the Under-21 stage before choosing to play for Turkey in October, since when he has won 2 caps.

Malli has excellent dribbling skills, is clearly a good finisher and has an eye for a through ball. Leading up to the winter transfer window Bayern Munich were watching him with suggestions in the German press that he could be available for £8.36-million (€10m -AUS$14.57 -  US$11.04) while he has a contract until 2018.

That is the case this window, however prior to the summer ha would have cost a lot more because his set fee release clause didn't kick in until the summer. There was plenty of talk of us and Borussia Dortmund signing him in January, but as I pointed out then, that wouldn't happen with his release clause activated from this summer.

Malli is of the right age, is of the right price, has improvement in him and has the potential to increase in value. He ticks the major boxes for us and Mainz are a club who develop players and sell them on. He is one who remains on the list of possibles.
