Janssen confirms its Spurs

TRANSFER TALK

The reports from Holland say the fee is agreed, they also say he is flying over for a medical. Yesterday afternoon Janssen spoke to Dutch regional newspaper Noordhollands Dagblad and confirmed his imminent arrival at Tottenham. The paper is one of nine editions of the 'North Sea' and which comes out in the morning thus events seem to have overtaken them slightly.

"I will not train with AZ Alkmaar anymore.
"The clubs are now really close to an agreement. It’s not 100 per cent, but it’s looking good. I will go home and wait for the phone call to go [to Spurs]. It could take an hour, but it could also take longer.
"I am glad that it is almost complete. For me it was clear from the beginning that I wanted to go to Spurs.
"The competition appeals to me and the plan of the coach is similar to the plan that the boss shared with me a year ago at AZ. Spurs is a beautiful club with a fantastic stadium and heaps of potential. Anyone in my shoes would take this step."

There is a lot of legal stuff to sort out with a transfer and a lot of personal financial detail that requires ratification. It is a case of dotting the I's and crossing the T's now. It is a breath of fresh air having a player turn down higher wages and richer clubs because he wants to come and play. He knows the score, he is number two to Kane, will play the Cups and when Kane needs a rest while fighting to take his place.

The guy, given he was dumped by Feyenoord and had to fight his way back from the second division, which he did in rapid style. His skill makes him an exciting addition to our strike force, I think and I hope he'll become a prolific goalscorer for us.

  1. Will also be nice to bring him in late in games to replace lamella of erikson and play beside Kane when trailing or tied
