How would you resolve the squad issues?

How would you set about strengthening the squad for next season?

Should we go into it with Cameron Carter-Vickers as back-up right centre-back, although we do have Federico Fazio still on the books and prepared according to his agent father to sit out the remaining two years of his contract if nothing comes along. His loan spell at Sevilla wasn't a success, however he wishes to paint it and there seems little interest in him.

Defensively apart from the Fazio, Carter-Vickers situation we seem sorted, as we do in defensive midfield with Dier and Wanyama. It is a position we have three players in the squad for so Nabil Bentaleb covers that which leaves question marks over Tom Carroll. He seems to have a diminishing role in the squad. Dominic Ball we know is going to be assessed in pre-season before a decision is made on his future.

Dembele as the link man of the two defensive midfielders, thus classed as central midfielders for this exercise, is covered at the moment by Ryan Mason, who seems set to stay given Pochettino has faith in him, or did have when he was first choice ahead of Dembele for the role. His comments also suggest he is staying.

The attacking three are not easily pigeon holed. Alli central, Eriksen left and Lamela right has been the norm. Son backs up generally on the right, although has played left, central and as a striker. Clinton Njie, although having played central in France, he only started one game wide, looks to be a wide attacker, presumably from the left being he is right-footed.

Alex Pritchard is a gamble, he has virtually no Premier League experience so it is pure guesswork whether he can handle it or not. You have to assume he'll be assessed in pre-season along with Ball.

Josh Onomah is coming through, as will others like Harry Winks. Do we have enough in this area, having sold Andros Townsend in January. If Nacer Chadli were to return to form or Clinton Njie settle then Eriksen could rotate with Alli, but surely you would want both of them in the team at the same time so an alternative is needed.

Vincent Janssen and Antonio Sanabria, if we can convice Roma ro sell, seem to be the two we are trying to sign to provide some alternative to Harry Kane up front.

We appear to be in the market for an attacking central midfielder to resolve that, a striker and a wide attacker, although whether we buy them all this window we'll have to wait and see.

The home grown rule must be remembered, we van only have 17 non-home grown players in the first team squad, any more and they can't play Premier League football. That's usually forgotten when people should sell Carroll, Mason and Bentaleb.

Assuming we sign Janssen, what do we do about the central attacking midfield isuue, if we want to play Alli and Eriksen at the same time? Who is the cover? Surely it needs someone proven at this level given the importance of the position, not everyone is Dele Alli.

Top of thr sell list is Fazio for me which would free up another non home grown place in the squad.
