How long will Janssen take to adapt is the next question

Tottenham fans are delighted with the new acquisition and business so far this window. We needed a striker, not just any striker but a goalscoring striker who fits our wage structure. Janssen has the attributes to fit into our system, as opposed to trying to change a system to suit a him and he has the potential to improve, grow with the team and increase in value.

Nothing is certain, he will have to adapt and that may take some time, he needed half a season in the Eredevisie before he found his feet, although he has scored three simple international goals as well. Dutch paper De Telegraaf spoke to him.

“Of course I want to play football. But I will need time to adapt. Yet I know there will be plenty of minutes. With the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup i will play many games with Spurs. And I’m going to enjoy all the playing time I get.”

De Telegraaf asked Janssen why he only wanted to join Spurs, he turned down approaches from Arsenal, West Ham, PSG, Wolfsburg, turned everyone down after he had visited Tottenham.

“After the tour of the training ground and the stadium, I knew for sure: what a fantastic club. And the conversation with the coach (Mauricio Pochettino) was perfect as there was an immediate click. He clearly knew my game and how he sees my future.“
Spurs fans continued to back Roberto Soldado, even though he wasn't scoring thanks in part to him being a decent chap it seemed and one with a genuine feel for the club. He still Tweets now about Spurs. The fact that Janssen was so adamant that he didn't want to go anywhere but Tottenham may well mean the fans take to him in the same way. He may need that backing if he has a tough start.
