Fazio bid rejected, departures after pre-season assessment

TOTTENHAM TALK

Pre-season is a big time for some players at Tottenham who have perhaps not figured as much as they would like. There are new signings and possibly more on the way, there are youth players through that Pochettino wants to have a look at.

Players such as Ryan Mason and Tom Carroll are fine at the moment and will themselves be assessed during pre-season before Pochettino decides if anyone can leave. Will Dominic Ball have a role, what opportunities might there be for Nabil Bentaleb, what does signing a wide attacker mean for the future of Nacer Chadli, will Mason remain understudy to Dembele, where does Tom Carroll fit in, what is the future for Alex Pritchard, will Cameron Carter-Vickers be understudy to Toby Alderweireld?

Just a few question we await some answers to. July 26 vs Juventus (Melbourne, Australia), July 29 vs Atletico Madrid (Melbourne, Australia) and August 5 vs Inter Milan (Oslo, Norway) are the games that will go a long way to providing some answers.

One player who doesn't need assessment though is Federico Fazio who we are actively trying to sell and who Espanyol want to buy. President Chen Yansheng and CEO Robert Ramon flew to London last week and reached agreement with the Argentinian centre-back over a four-year contract. Their defence was poor last year and former Watford boss, Quique Sanchez Flores, sees the LaLiga and Europa League experience of Fazio as being crucial to improving it, he is their number one target.

There is just a fee to agree with Tottenham now, which given we want him out and offered him to WBA for £5-million, shouldn't be too much of an issue. Espanyol have made an offer for Fazio which we have rejected according to this Spanish source, thus we wait for a new offer.
