TRANSFER TALK

Wanyama, Batshuayi, Vazquez, Janssen, Calleri

Tottenham need to strengthen the squad and want to finalise transfers early, whereas players want to keep their options open and if involved in the 2016 European Championships, perform to boost salary demands.

The agents role is not to speed a transfer through but to get the best deal for his client, which will vary depending upon where he is in his career path. Tottenham have been active ahead of the euros and have verbal agreements with several players it seems.

There are been reports that Victor Wanyama wants to join Spurs, that he is refusing to sign the five-year deal on the table for him, thus reducing his market value.

Michy Batshuayi wants to join Spurs and has turned down West Ham United for obvious reasons. Other clubs are interested but he has made his choice. Marseilles are in dire financial straits and must raise 40m EUR by 30 June. We have them by the short and curlies basically.

His father claimed that Jonathan Calleri has a verbal agreement to join Spurs after the Copa Libertadores. How reliable that information is we will have to wait and see, I'm not one to trust information from South America too much, especially with third party issues to resolve.

Franco Vazquez is leaving Palermo but AC Milan, Roma and the Chinese are said to want him and there is a link to Manchester United too. We are talking, that much has been confirmed, but the fee may well be an issue given his age.

Dutch striker Vincent Janssen was in London on Tuesday with his agent to hold talks with us over a proposed move. the vibe about this one is good so it may be he and Batshuayi we see at Spurs.

Wanyama, Batshuayi, Vazquez, Janssen, Calleri - would four out of five be a good window or three out of that five? Then there is perhaps a centre-back to buy unless we are promoting Cameron Carter-Vickers and perhaps keeping Dominic Ball.

Pochettino wants to have a look at Ball, who was on loan at Rangers last season and playing in the Eric Dier role. Cameron Carter-Vickers is a centre-back mature ahead of his years. Pre-season will be an important time for the pair.
