Werder Bremen: Vestergaard transfer to Borussia Monchengladbach nears completion

The Tottenham Hotspur linked and scouted giant centre-back Jannik Vestergaard is nearing the completion of his move from Werder Bremen to Borussia Monchengladbach. He is moving to a club who are in the play-off round of the UEFA Champions League from a club who just avoided relegation.

Bremen sporting director Frank Baumann said, "One can assume that he is gone."

Vincent Janssen has a decision to make but Spurs remain confident

News has emerged in the last couple of days that German side VfB Wolfsburg have contacted AZ Alkmaar about acquiring the services of Dutch goalscorer Vincent Janssen, who as we all know is a major Spurs target this window.

Wolfsburg finished 8th in the Bundesliga, the top seven teams qualifying for European competition, either directly or into the play-off rounds. While they can offer regular starts in a top tier league team with a sound chance of making European competition in a year, they can't offer it this season. The fact Tottenham have UEFA Champions League football may swing it the way of Spurs.

Janssen will have to weight up his options, he can also earn more money at White Hart Lane, but it will be starts that are crucial to him. He has just burst onto the international scene with 3 goals in 5 games including a penalty and an assist against England at Wembley. Sitting on a bench for long periods would harm his international prospects at a time when he needs to keep enhancing them.

How much game time was included in the vision that Mauricio Pochettino sold him on Tuesday may well be the determining factor. Tottenham are confident of securing their man.

If you haven't seen the highlights reel of his finishing you really should, the first goal makes you sit up and take notice. Janssen Video.
