Townsend, Vázquez, Vardy

Andros Townsend wanted by Crystal Palace

The Sunday People suggest Crystal Palace are after Andros Townsend. It makes sense that he has a release clause in his contract, there would be little point joining a club that may be relegated if you couldn't get away and were forced to play Championship football.

The Italians want to insist we are making great efforts to sign 27-year-old (28 next February) attacking midfielder Franco Vázquez, how much effort we are actually making remains to be seen. He has said he wouldn't make a decision until later in June. His club Palermo are expecting a bid, I'm expecting a lottery win, doesn't mean it's going to happen. Manchester United are thrown at the story but you'd expect him to stay in Italy where Roma are interested. The Italian media don't think he would handle the Premier League.

Stuart Pearce urges Spurs to make a bid for Jamie Vardy, so what. It's just the European Championship media circus kicking into gear. He would hardly say Tottenham shouldn't, his job is to build England up so any story should be about boosting a player. I don't see him making a decision about his future until later in July when he will have more idea what sort of team Leicester City will have next season. Right now he doesn't know who will be bought, who they will keep and who they will buy.
