Milan still favourites for Vasquez

Palermo, on the island of Sicily, have a new Sports Director Rino Foschi who had signed a pre-contract agreement but wanted assurances about his role before finalising anything. That would mean that there could be no transfers in or out until he had got his feet under the table. In addition, they have a new coach in Davide Ballardini, so he and Foschi would have to quickly plan the future.

That future will be without Franco Vazquez who wants to leave for pastures new with AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur after his services. Neither side have made an offer for him, possibly because of the valuation placed on him by their president. Naturally they seek to raise as much revenue as possible from the sale as they wish to strengthen their midfield the local paper tells me. Roma are also expected to enter the fray and the Chinese have also made enquiries.

There is no indication that Tottenham is his favoured destination, naturally the Italians think he will end up at Milan so it wouldn't surprise me at all not to see the playmaker wearing a Spurs shirt next season.

Just as there are reasons why there is a delay with Batshuayi, Marseille's financial desperation, there is a reason for any Vazquez delay (new personnel). Quite why all fans can't operate with common sense goodness knows.
