Daft Deeney and the Lloris contract

Journalistic invention is alive and kicking at The Sun where the infamous Jiggings has dug a story up from his dreams and suggested Spurs want to make Troy Deeney a cult figure. Once again the men in white coats need to pay him a visit.

Pochettino likes Spurs to play with the ball along the floor, Deeney like to play with the ball in the air so there is a clash of styles straight away. We play short balls, he likes to play long balls.

A  journeyman pro is not going to improve the squad and can hardly be described as moving us forward. We have a stated transfer policy that he does not fit into. A 22-year-old (23 in October) Michy Batshuayi or a 27-year-old (28 later this month) Troy Deeney. One has a future, one doesn't and would need replacing in a year or two.

The Mirror, no doubt because the European Championships are around the corner have decided Hugo Lloris is not signing a new contract. he is concentrating on his duties as Fench captain so I wouldn't expect him to do any negotiating on a contract that runs until 2019. There is hardly a rush is there but paper do like to try and create a big story where one hardly exists.
