Daft Deeney and the Lloris contract

Journalistic invention is alive and kicking at The Sun where the infamous Jiggings has dug a story up from his dreams and suggested Spurs want to make Troy Deeney a cult figure. Once again the men in white coats need to pay him a visit.

Pochettino likes Spurs to play with the ball along the floor, Deeney like to play with the ball in the air so there is a clash of styles straight away. We play short balls, he likes to play long balls.

A  journeyman pro is not going to improve the squad and can hardly be described as moving us forward. We have a stated transfer policy that he does not fit into. A 22-year-old (23 in October) Michy Batshuayi or a 27-year-old (28 later this month) Troy Deeney. One has a future, one doesn't and would need replacing in a year or two.

The Mirror, no doubt because the European Championships are around the corner have decided Hugo Lloris is not signing a new contract. he is concentrating on his duties as Fench captain so I wouldn't expect him to do any negotiating on a contract that runs until 2019. There is hardly a rush is there but paper do like to try and create a big story where one hardly exists.

  1. Journeyman pro? You really are clueless! He's had 2 clubs at 27 years old and been at Watford for the last 6 years!

  2. I think he probably means in the sense of only having one season experience of playing in the big league?

  3. Seriously tho.. if he is good in the air then he is fit for Poch's tactics.. The player could be a good target for Toby's diagonal long balls..

  4. He wont leave Watford, has heard too many nasty stories about how out of favor players are treated at Spurs from his present teamates ! Plus Levy really pissed off the Watford owners over Townsend saga ...

  6. Idiot. Troy is so very much more than someone "who likes to play long balls". You've clearly only seen snippets of him playing. He is a workaholic with excellent technical skills and under Zola and Jokanovic he excelled with the ball on the deck. You don't want him? Good, you don't deserve him.
