Badelj interest looks like only that, interest

TRANSFER TALK

A surprising link popped up a couple of days ago, an interest in 27-year-old (28 next February) Croatian midfielder Milan Badelj.

This came via Calciomercato who say we are interested in the midfielder from Italian club Fiorentina. He is primarily a defensive midfielder but could also play the Dembele/Mason role.

Fiorentina, they say, are set to meet Badelj and his entourage after the European Championships, with Fiorentina's new director of sport, Pantaleo Corvino, leading the negotiations. The story comes from
FiorentinaNews.com which says that the Viola (Fiorentina nickname) will evaluate the offers they receive, though coach Paulo Sousa considers him indispensable in a two-man deep midfield.

They go on to say that it is unlikely that the Croatian star will leave Florence for less than £7.89 million (€10, - US$11.25m - AUS$15.26m) and that Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli are known to be after the Croatian international likely to be playing for his country in their opening European Championship fixture.

Suggestions that Spurs have opened negotiations are probably false and the British press putting two and two together to make five. The Italian story suggests the Italians are having meetings, not Spurs. he is another player we are being linked with who is 27 which raises doubts. We are all about building a squad who can stay together for years and increase in value. As players abroad start at an early age they get experienced quickly, Kyle Walker is a very experienced full-back, but he is only just 26. You can have experience without having the years on the clock.

Personaly, I doubt there is much in this.
