Bacca for sale, Arsenal to bid for Slimani

TRANSFER TALK

A lot of nonsense has been spoken about Islam Slimani, the 28-year-old striker some have put forward as a target for Tottenham. At the prices quoted he certainly isn't, he is playing in a second tier league against second tier defences.

The Daily Star are suggesting that Arsenal are going to make a £23-million (€35m - AUS$42.10m - US$31.47m) bid for Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani after being rejected by Jamie Vardy, as regular readers knew he had decided before the European Championships began.

Silmani has also previously been linked with Leicester City when Vardy's future was in doubt.

AC Milan have put West Ham United and former Leicester City and Tottenham target Carlos Bacca on the market. Like Eden Dzeko who is 30 and managed only 8 goals for Roma, Bacca is the wrong age. The Colombian is a 29-year-old (30 in September) striker who while scoring a few goals hasn't impressed. he isn't the future and has been put up for sale.

Guesstimates put his price as £21.12-million (€26m - AUS$38.66m - US$28.91m), not a price I'd pay for someone of his age. The CIS Football Observatory, 80% accurate on transfer fees of the Top 100 players place his value as £28.76-million (€35.4m - AUS$52.64m - US$39.26m).

He is a player we have moved on from and as we see from the players we are now linked with, the strikers are all young with potential to improve, the only players around the 27-year-old mark are experienced attacking midfielders.
