Tim Krul Only Has A Year Left On His Contract
Yesterday we considered Georginio Wijnaldum, the newcastle United wide attacker who was hot and cold ldepending upon which half of the season you watched. He is a player we have been linked with before and another player who we tried yo sign a few years ago is 28-year-old (29 next April) goalkeeper Tim Krul.
He is another Dutch international who isn't going to do his international prospects any good playing Championship football. His season has been ruined by injury, making only eight Premier League appearances this season.
He only has a year left on his contract and has played at Newcastle for 10 years now so clearly shows loyalty as he's played in the Championship for them before. While he is fighting his way back to fitness he has had to witness Newcastle getting relagated and perhaps his words after the game suggests he is going to stay.
"The fans have been incredible and deserve success. Everyone at the club will be fighting to get Newcastle United back into the Premier League where it belongs."
We have been linked to many goalkeepers. Whether we are lookingbeyond Vorm or whether we are looking for a third goalkeeper isn't clear, If we are considering moving on Vorm, and there has been no suggestion that that is the case, then Krul would make a decent understudy to Lloris perhaps. At the moment though his fitness would be a concern.
My thoughts are that he'll stay at Newcastle and get a seasons football under his belt.
