Spurs ask about Lorenzo Insigne

Tottenham Hotspur, Monaco, Bayern Munich, PSG, and Arsenal are all watching the situation of Napoli striker Lorenzo Insigne with interest.

The 24-year-old (25 in June) wide man or attacking midfielder has a contract until 2019 and is undergoing extension talks. The money available in the Premier League gives him options, he earns a reported £950,000 (1.2m EUR) annual wage, which is around £18,000-a-week.

Against the wages side is the fact that he plays in a top tier league every week, he has scored 12 goals and had 10 assists in 36 Serie A games this season. He also scored 1 goal and had 1 assist in 234 minutes of Europe League football over 5 games, which rather shows how seriously Italians take the trophy, qualifying for the Champions League through the league takes priority.

Napoli sits second, twp points ahead of Roma with Juventus way out of sight with just one game to go. The top two qualify for the Champions League group stages while the third placed team have to go into a play-off. When Napoli know their fate then they will know their financial position for next season and can determine how much wage increase to offer.

Tottenham has asked to be kept informed of developments with the player believed to b wanting a pay rise that at the moment is not forthcoming.
