Pochettino consults Bielsa

Florian Thauvin has long been a target of Tottenham and reports have surfaced once again that we are interested in him this window.

Pochettino consults Bielsa

A Newcastle fans website, The Mag, is suggesting our interest is laughable and that was before Newcastle's relegation was confirmed by Sunderland last night.

It seems Inter Milan and Tottenham are linked with players in the same way Liverpool and Tottenham are, invariably if we are spoken of as being interested in a player, the name Inter Milan crops up and so it does again. They too are casting glances and Valencia are said to have made contact.

The 23-year-old (24 in January) hasn't really enhanced his reputation at Newcastle, he started only 3 Premier League games. He was sent off 10 minutes into his first appearance for them after arriving from Marseille.

“Maybe he will stay at Marseille - it’s an opportunity,” one of Thauvin’s entourage told La Provence.

He is primarily a left-footed right winger who was overweight when he went back to Marseille on loan in January and has since recovered his form. He had cost Newcastle £13.76 million at the beginning of the season.

French outlet RMC suggest we have approached Thauvin about coming to White Hart Lane, something you think h would jump at the chance. They go on to say that Mauricio Pochettino has spoken to former Marseille boss Marcelo Bielsa about him.

He didn't impress the 'wally with the brolly' so it may be that under Pochettino he can get his form back, if he has the right mental approach. A chat with Bielsa would have found that out for Pochettino so this could be an interesting rumour, given Thauvin's wages are thought to be £35,000-a-week.
