A Move For Wijnaldum?

With Newcastle United relegated there are going to be plenty of clubs looking for their players. Several, including Andros Townsend are hardly likely to want to play in the Championship, so it could be a difficult summer for the Geordies.

A move for Wijnaldum?

They will get a parachute payment, but you can't survive paying Premier League wages in the Championship. Failure to come straight back up would be financially disastrous. Commercial income will go down, prize money will go down so economies are going to have to be made.

Georginio Gregion Emile Wijnaldum ia a 25-year-old (26 in November) who we were linked with last summer, but he joined Newcastle in a £13 million (16.54m EUR - US$18.72m) deal. he started the season well but has had a poor second half of the season and all his 11 goals have come at home.

While Newcastle might like to keep him, he has a contract until 2020, it is unlikely he will want to drop into the Championship, he is too good for that level and it might affect his international future. He was asked about his future after the Tottenham victory and he was non-comittal when giving his answer.

“I don’t know. I don’t think about that. I am devastated that we are relegated. That is all that is on my mind, I don’t think about it or other things. We will see what the future brings.”

His failure to perform away from home and poor second half of the season are a concern, that suggests that mentally he isn't top drawer. Inconsistence is a sure sign that a player isn't motivating himself and we saw the result of that towards the end of the season.

there is no doubt we will have been taking a note of his performances this season, will we consider him worth making a move for, we'll have to wait and see.
