Is Paul Merson playing mind games?

It's a tad early for Paul Merson to be predicting Tottenham as title favourites next season, nobody knows who each club is going to buy in the summer or who is going to be managing who. I would have thought Manchester City and Chelsea, in that order, would be title favourites.

Perhaps it is just former Gooner Merson trying to put pressure on Tottenham this season in an attempt to ensure we don't snatch a Premier League title this season.

Former Liverpool player Mark Lawrenson, now a BBC pundit has told the channel he expects nothing less than a Spurs victory on Monday, which places the pressure firmly on Leicester City to get a result against Swansea City tomorrow.

“Tottenham are built from the back but they have developed as the season has gone on and, at the moment, they are the best team in the league in every department. 

“West Brom have taken only one point from their last four games and it is hard to see their form improving on Monday. However Leicester do on Sunday, Spurs will win this and keep the pressure on.”

Every Spurs fan will be cheering Swansea and hoping Leicester don't sneak another 1-0 as they have done frequently of late. They have had a fantastic season and fair play to them. but we want them to falter now.
