A good weekend to be a Spurs fan

Well, it's been a good weekend so far with Leicester City and Arsenal both dropping points. Tomorrow the game is another important step.

We sit eight points behind the leaders with a game in hand, it's not only important that we pick up three points tp close that gap to five, but important to extend the five point gap between ourselves and those chasing us.

Stoke City sit 10th on home form, have won seven, drawn three and lost six. The have scored nineteen goals and conceded one less in collecting 24 points out of a possible 48. Their record in the last five games is 2-2 v Swansea City, 1-2 v Southampton, 1-0 v Newcastle United, 2-1 v Aston Villa and 0-3 v Everton.

Away from home we are currently the second best team in the league having amassed 30 points out of a possible 48. We have won eight, drawn six and lost just two, scoring 27 and conceding 13. Our last five away games have been a 1-1 draw with Liverpool, 0-2 v Aston Villa, 1-0 v West Ham United,  1-2 v Manchester City and a 0-3 victory over Norwich City.

Over the last five games, both home and away Stoke City sit 15th in the table having scored 7 and conceded 10 goals amassing 5 points from a victory and two draws. Spurs sit 2nd in the form table having taken 11 points from three victories and two draws. in that time, we have scored 10 goals and conceded 3.

Ten of our sixteen away games have has less than three goals, thirteen of them have had more than one goal.

The statistics are in our favour and our performances have been very encouraging. In previous seasons we have bottled the run-in before now, but this group have developed a winning mentality under Mauricio Pochettino. It is probably the single most important aspect of his reign so far.

The mentality at the club had to change, talent is simply not enough if you want to be a top team. Tomorrow sees another pressure game, exactly the type of practice the side needs to draw positives from for the remainder of the season and beyond.
