Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal making a mockery of the sport


The European Super League logo has been released as certainly clubs only interested in themselves try to ramp up the pressure to get special treatment at the expense of football and football fans.

 Talk of a breakaway league is designed simply to get guaranteed European places for clubs only intersted in themselves and their bank balance. Of curse if UEFA didn't sanction the competition and FIFA didn't sanction anyone not playing under the FIFA or UEFA banner from competing in the World Cup or European Championships, players would then have a decision to make.

 i wouldn't buckle and I certainly wouldn't allow certain clubs to have special treatment simply because they arrogantly think everyone wants to watch them, they don't. I don't watch the Champions League for that very reason, it is simply a competition where th same teams play each other, it needs the new blood that Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City will provide. 

 Why should a club like Leicester have their achievement of getting diminished by allowing Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea to take their place regardless of whether they actually qualify for the compoetition or not. By doing so you totally devealue the sport. Taking away the competitive element reduces the sport to a meaningless spectacle, which will, in time, reduce in popularity with the injustice for the majority of fans who don't support the privileged few. It goes against everything sport is.

 Familiarity breeds contempt and a lack of competition kills sport, snooker almost killed itself and had to be reinvented to rejuvenate interest. Everyone does not want to watch Barcelona, they do not want a guarantee of watching Barcelona, if they are not good enough to qualify on their own without special help then they shouldn't take part.

 What is the point in playing a league season if the results are immaterial? If it didn't matter whether Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United or Liverpool lost or not then why bother to play the games in the first place? You are giving some teams a psychological advantage and disadvantaging the other side mentally before you have even kicked off. One side would have no pressure because the result doesn't really matter and the other would be fighting the injustice that the result affects their future and their position in the league.

 The idea is so wrong and it shows the mentality of certain clubs that they are no longer interested in a sporting spectacle, they are no longer interested in the fans. 

 It is bad enough that the Champions League was set up to avoid a breakaway league previously and has been designed to guarantee as much as possible that the same teams compoete in it year after year. 

 To take it a stage further and guarantee places simply makes a mockery of the sport and the clubs involved should be ashamed of themselves.
