Levy confirms youngster will replace Fazio

An important point came out of the meeting between the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust (THST), much maligned by people who do nothing to promote the club themselves, and Tottenham Hotspur. In response to a THST question, Daniel Levy said the Fazio deal was possible because Mauricio Pochettino, John MacDermott (in charge of everything below the first team now) and Paul Mitchell were all confident of the abilities of a younger player to step up to the first team if required.
Our policy is to promote from within and therefore to buy the best young talent we can to develop. That rather suggests that we may not dip into the transfer market in the summer to replace Fazio when we sell him, which we surely will. Presumably, the youngster in question is Cameron Carter-Vickers.
This triumvirate, who work closely together, are the staff Manchester United unsuccessfully tried to poach. hardly surprising when you consider Matt Croker, the FA's Head of Player and Coach Development, states that Tottenham and Chelsea are leading the way with Spurs specifically having some fantastic technical gifted youth players.
The first team squad is young and we are looking to establish a pool of players who can step up as and when players leave the club. Then it is a question of having a pool below these and a pool below these and so on to create that conveyor belt of talent we are looking for.
If we have a reputation in the Premier League for always introducing youngsters and giving youth it's head then we become a magnet for talented young players. They know thta if they are good enough thye will get a chance regularly sooner than at other clubs, why then would you want to go anywhere else.
