Battle for Argentinian striker

Chelsea, Palermo, Inter Milan, Monaco, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been following Boca Juniors 22-year-old (23 next September) right-footed striker Jonathan Calleri.

The Argentinian has a contract until 31 December 2017 and the Argentinian Premier League side will not wanting him entering the final year of his contract so is likely to be sold while they can command a maximum fee.

Just transfer speculation? Well, Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici has revealed they have received an offer for the striker. He has admitted that there are talks underway. Reports in Italy suggest that Inter have not yet made a bid, that they are considering a bid of £7.08-million (US$11.98m - AUS$16.61m - €11m) plus performance bonuses. He also indicated the return of Pablo Osvaldo, the Argentinian-Italian currently at Porto.

That is looking likely because Calleri said goodbye to Boca Juniors fans via Twitter suggesting he will be making a move to Europe in January. According to his father, Guillermo, he is currently obtaining an Italian passport by virtue of citizenship. Whether that means he is off to Italy or as an EU passport holder doesn't need a work permit to come to the Premier League we will have to wait and see.

In 2015, he has scored 21 goals in 53 games with a further 11 assists, a goal every 178 minutes (roughly the rate Harry Kane is scoring in the Premier League this season). He has had a hand in a goal every 117 minutes over the season. In the Primera Division he scored 10 goals in 19 starts and 7 substitute appearances, a goal every 176 minutes, a hand in a goal every 104 minutes.
