Dembele had to ask the mirror searching questions

Mousa Dembele is gaining plaudits from everywhere now. The ex-professionals who consistently sais he had more to give to the fans who have seen the mental change in him and thus the improved performances.

I can't remember which it was either Michael Own in commentary or Paul Scholes in summary after the game who said they didn't think he knows how good he is or could be. Tottenham coaching staff have continually tried to tell him, but as I have said before, unless he is motivated, unless he see how that a particular game helps him achieve what he wants to achieve then he is never going to be the player he can be. Anyone who doubts mentality plays a huge part in sport need only read Dembele's comments in conjunction with seeing our improved performances.

“I think everybody can see our mentality and the way we are playing is different. I don’t want to say it, but we just feel we are now men. We are more confident and we are more of a group. That is something we have worked for a long time on. So we are really happy with how it’s going.
“Before, maybe we might have been happy to draw with Chelsea, now we are disappointed. We have grown so much in so many different departments and we know we could have beaten Chelsea. There is such a positive vibe in the group. It is very important now to continue that good vibe.
“I think we are accomplished enough to say we can win any game. If we have the same mentality we have now, of course. Obviously we want to end up first, but I don’t try to think that far ahead. The next game is important and then after that every week will be a challenge.”
Compare those words with Emmanuel Adebayor's behaviour or Andros Townsend or Etienne Capoue, even Sandro. Everything is rosy when things are going well, when they are not is when you find out about a player. That is when you know whether you have a player worth keeping.
That is the time you have to evaluate, the time when you look in the mirror and ask yourself some serious questions, the time you ask how badly do I want to achieve at this club? Dembele has answered those questions in the right way, Adebayor, Kaboul, Lennon, Capoue, Sandro, Soldado, Paulinho all didn't want it enough, some preferred an easy life on their terms, some rebelled, some spoke out.
Dembele looked inward, it's my problem and only I can provide the solution, so he did.
