An excellent piece on Pochettino

For those of us who have been banging on about mentality and the need to build a youthful side who grow together to compete with the top four, Mauricio Pochettino has been a godsend. A manager or head coach who grasped that the club has to change it's culture not just the playing staff, someone prepared to say if you want a successful team you have to have the support off the field.

In sport, mentality is the be all and end all of everything, if you don't have it you don't have a chance. Tottenham didn't have a chance, we didn't expect, we hoped. Player attitude had to change, those like Kaboul who didn't see anything wrong, had to go and go they have. There can be no doubt the mentality at Tottenham is totally different now from 18 months ago.

Gary Neville needs no introduction, a success on the field, he is now a success of it and quite frankly the best pundit on TV at the moment. When he speaks it is time to listen and he has written a very interesting piece in the Telegraph about Mauricio Pochettino after spending a day watching the workings at Tottenham.

Your taster:

"And if you had said to me at the start of the season that a player out of League One (Dele Alli), and a converted centre-back (Dier) who was in and out of the England U-21s, would become the English mainstays in the Spurs midfield, I would have called you deluded.

"Pochettino is not taking ready-baked cakes. He is moulding people. He can change their positions. He can take an Erik Lamela, whose confidence was maybe shot, and turn him into a threatening wide man. Moussa Dembele, who was always talented, now looks the weight he should be. Jan Vertonghen is now able to harness and control his ego."
