Vertonghen - I want for nothing at Spurs

Jan Vertonghem has told Het Nieuwsblad he wants for nothing at Spurs, apart from the sunshine. He was linked once again with Barcelona, who have him on their short list of wanted players.

The Spaniards have drawn up a four-man centre-back list, but with a transfer embargo that allows them to sign players but not play them competitively until January, it was felt better to keep the defenders they had for now. Vertonghen was asked about this and replied that he was happy at Spurs and had everything he needed.

"Apart from the sun, I'll not want for anything at Tottenham, I am satisfied that I can stay there. We have moderate start to the season (Tottenham is 16th with 3 points after four matches), but which is not due to our quality. We will rise very quickly in the rankings. But the level of the Premier League continues to grow It has always four or five top teams, but take it from me, also those others are not so easy to beat."

Whether that remains the situation at the end of the season we will have to wait and see, but for now he is a vice-captain and one of the first names on the teamsheet.
