Werner, Khumalo, Bolasie, Veljkovic

Roberto Soldado has been allowed to leave as Tottenham have all but arranged the incoming of new strikers.

Things have progressed and 19-year-old striker Timo Werner is due to fly to London to finalise his impending transfer from Stuttgart. There are some who have knowledge through the agents network, suggesting the two clubs have agreed terms and it is just left to finalising the deal with Werner and his agents.

Tottenham are expecting to bring in one, if not two strikers this week and it is only if we know we are bringing players in that Soldado will be let go. His deal is all arranged and everyone is waiting upon us finalising a deal for his replacement. As for Saido Berahino, WBA naturally want as much as they can get and are hoping Manchester City make a bid.

South African side SuperSport United have completed the transfer of Bongani Khumalo, signing him on a one-year deal with a two-year option. The 28-year-old joined Spurs in 2011 and spent his time on a series of loans before being released when his contract expired on 30 June.

Yannick Bolasie, the 26-year-old DR Congo winger we have shown an interest in is to be offered a new contract at Crystal Palace, reportedly the same figure as WBA are offering Saido Berahino, £35,000-a-week. He seems keen to move to us but there is no chance of that happening for figures around £20 million.

Miloš Veljković won the FIFA U-20 World Cup held recently in New Zealand and is on course with his development. Some are mistakenly suggesting his name as a first team player, something he isn't ready for yet. The next step for him is a season fighting for a place and playing regular football, then next season he may be ready for cameo roles and an introduction into the first team set-up.

He himself said earlier this summer that he is looking to make the odd game at Spurs this season but a loan spell initially until January in the Championship looks to be the next step. Veljković is a centre-back and needs to learn that role rather than as some are suggesting play as a defensive midfielder. Tim Sherwood gave him a little run out there to introduce him to first team football and show him what he is aiming for.

It was an encouragement and you do that with young players in a position that won't compromise the team. The last thing we need is having a set of players who are jack of all trades master of none. Eric Dier is a centre-back, he has played in defensive midfield before but not at Premier League level so again putting him there for important games is not really an option. At just 19 (20 in September) fans need to let Veljković and Dier develop as centre-backs.
