Adebayor sale in a week?

They have tried once before and they are trying again, Al Ahli are rumoured in the Gulf to be trying to sign Emmanuel Adebayor again.

The President of Al Ahli, Abdullah Al Naboodah, admitted to Gulf News that the club will have to come up with a marquee signing soon.

“We can’t afford to waste time. We do not have the time. We need a striker as soon as possible. We tried our best to get his signature but did not succeed. We need to move on now. For certain, we need a striker and we need to finish all these formalities as soon as we can. We should be having some sort of news in the next few days."

He tweeted last week that 28-year-old Brazilian striker Luis Adriano has agreed a £5.7 million (US$8.91m - AUS$11.83m - €8.04m) salary but he then joined AC Milan instead. Adriano's salary would have equated to £109,615-a-week (US$171,268 - AUS$227,514 - €154,563) so they can easily afford Emmanuel Adebayor.

The local rumour is they have turned their attention to the 31-year-old Togo international we are trying to offload. Website Pulse report that Adebayor has just converted to Islam and is now a Muslim, coincidence or does the story have some substance?

The Al Ahli players return for pre-season medical checks on 10 July and then travel to France to train. On 26 August, they play an Asian Champions League quarter-final away against Naft of Iran. They will be looking to complete a deal fast so Adebayor could be gone in a week. He wants a pay-off from Spurs, but few clubs are going to be willing to maintain his wages which may force his hand to leave. We'll have to wait and see, but fingers crossed.
