Pochettino - the consistency will come

The words of Mauricio Pochettino echo my own, we need to score goals, we have to change the philosophy.

Pochettino - the consistency will come

Clinical finishing when on top is the ideal training ground for learning to be clinical when it matters most, in games like Manchester City at the weekend when it was 0-0. Going 1-0 up and putting pressure on the opposition is crucial.

"We need to start scoring goals but we have confidence in our strikers. We made a lot of changes at the beginning of the season with our squad and had to implement a different philosophy on the group."

It was good to see some clinical finishing, although many aspects of our defending left a lot to be desired, last night when the game had been all but won in the first half. Banging in four and five goals on a regular basis makes teams fear you, as there is always a goal in you. Win 2-0 and play keep ball, the nobody fears you and fear is a big weapon in football.

You go to Liverpool last season or a game against Manchester City and the only question on supporters lips was how many. Not will we lose. but these teams score goals, how many will they score. It's a total different mindset and when you go 1-0 down can see heads drop.

"The same happened at Southampton when we arrived. Maybe in four or five months we will have changed the mentality. We need time, then we are confident we will show more consistency.
"When they offered me the job Daniel was very clear with me and explained a little bit how we need to move the club on. We agreed - we want to build something special at Tottenham, different but better than before."

The vision is in place, is the individual in place to realise that vision?

Brad Friedel feels Tottenham will click in November or December and he is training with the squad every day, he sees the work being done, the progress being made. There are times in games where players are lost, they don't know what they should be doing and that means they just chase around with no organisation. Having lost yourself like that a team becomes easy to pick off, as Spurs were at times in the City game.

There will be highs and lows and while we live in an instant result world where everyone wants everything now, we need to be patient, a few more clinical days will help that.
