No harm in giving Soldado a run of games

Chris Waddle has come out in defence of Roberto Soldado after Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher said you can't see his Premier League career turning around.

No harm in giving Soldado a run of games

Waddle was an attacking player himself and was once the third most expensive player in the world so knows a thing or two about forward play. Waddle himself could either play as a winger or central midfield and was just one of a line of brilliant midfielders Tottenham have been blessed with down the years.

Waddle was asked why Soldado hadn't adjusted and suggested he needs a run of games but didn't he get that last season?

"It's the way they play in the Spanish league  -  very short, possession football; in England it's very hectic.
“The ball gets given away cheaply, you're under pressure constantly so it's just hard to come to terms with and I feel for the lad.
“He's never really been given a run in the side; [if they told him] ‘look, there are five, six, seven games and you're going to play all the time,’ then you'd see.”

He played in the first 13 Premier League games last season, only once for less than 61 minutes, he scored 4 with 2 assists. He then had 2 games on the bench, a 6 game run which included 1 goal and 2 assists before then being in and out the side.

The statistics suggest he is doing a better job than Adebayor and he played against the toughest opposition so a run of games isn't exactly going to do the team any harm.
