Heroes overcoming adversity

Having spoken to several Spurs and Arsenal fans we all seem to be of the same view, we both have problems, we can both be happy or at least not disappointed with a point and wasn't it a boring game.

Heroes overcoming adversity

None of us can remember a derby game like it, even the rash challenges weren't what you would call robust these days. Tottenham changes tactics, we sat back waiting for Arsenal to come on to us and then hit them on the break. Arsenal didn't want to commit themselves to try and prevent that, the result a stalemate, albeit one in which we had the better chances.

After recent performances a steady the ship point was welcomed and the performance didn't matter. In adversity heroes rise and there was no hero bigger than our new captain who led from the front, led by example.

Kaboul has been a shadow of the player who had one decent season with us 3 years ago, prior to that a decent player who always made a mistake and again this season a player always making a mistake. But in the Arsenal game he was immense.

Could this game and being given the captaincy be the making of him as a player again? He revelled in the responsibility and knew exactly how much it meant not to lose to Arsenal on their patch with our poor record there. He spoke to supporters through the club's official site.

“It was a performance from the heart. If I’m a football fan, a neutral and I watched that game, then I’m happy to see a game like that.
“For the Spurs fans - they must be proud and we’re proud of them as well, they supported us throughout.
"After the last game against West Brom [which Tottenham lost 1-0], we had to show another face and we did that."

I'm not sure the neutral would have enjoyed it but I understand where he is coming from, it was a fighting display and there were plenty showing heart out there, none more so than himself. Vertonghen, Lloris, Mason, Rose, Capoue, any defensive player really and even Lennon when he came on to add his defensive work instead of Chadli's attacking work.

Given we took Southampton's manager and wanted Morgan Schneiderlin our next Premier League game is going to be quite big as well.
