Spurs missed out on another Sporting youngster

Tottenham signed Eric Dier from Sporting and he has been a roaring success at White Hart lane so far, scoring as many Premier League goals in 2 games as it took Fernando Torres to score in 130 days after he netted on the opening day of the year.

Spurs missed out on another Sporting youngster

Last year though we missed out on signing another Sporting youngster, although I'd be surprised if we were interested in paying his eventual selling price.

Bruma, who is a Portugal U21 international, rose through the ranks of the Sporting and was asked by Galatasaray club magazine why he chose the Turkish club instead of Tottenham.

"Both clubs [Galatasaray and Tottenham] wanted me after the tournament. Galatasaray were playing Champions League football and managed by Fatih Terim, they were the better option."

He was one of the players who stood out at the Under 20 World Cup in 2013 scoring 5 goals in 4 games with 2 assists. He was being tracked by both Chelsea and French side Monaco however Bruma chose Galatasaray and signed a 5-year deal. The Turkish side paid Sporting £7.93 million ($12.95m - €10m). A high price for someone with so little experience.

The wingers transfer took place last September but Spurs continue to watch his progress. They are not alone, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton have all been having him watched and Everton tried to take him on loan during the summer transfer window.

He is a player we will no doubt be linked with again in the future so you may want to keep an eye out for him when Galatasaray play Arsenal in Group D of the UEFA Champions League this season.
