Kyle Walker out until December?

The word coming out of Tottenham was that they were concerned by the injury Kyle Walker had and now he has undergone an operation the official site reveals.

Kyle Walker out until December?

They tell us he has undergone lower abdominal surgery after further assessments from the specialists. No return date has been given, no indication of a recovery period.

Professional footballers in the English Premier League (EPL) suffer almost twice as many injuries as their fellow professionals in Spain and Italy. A UEFA study led by Professor Jan Ekstrand found that players in northern European countries pick up major injuries (1 month or more) far more frequently than those in southern European nations. The injuries we seem to pick up would bare that out.

It depends upon the surgery Walker has had but he could well be out for 6 weeks and will then have to start training to get match fit, personally I'll be surprised if we see Walker before December at the earliest. If that is the case means a lot of games for Kyle Naughton and Eric Dier.

Mauricio Pochettino has already pointed out that Dier is young and we need to manage his game time so as not to burn him out. It seems he is going to have to learn faster than expected initially.

The fact that the club have given no indication of any recovery time suggests to me that they think Walker is going to be out a while. He has been injured with a groin problem since around the 20th March, he had a hip injury prior to that. That's 6 months so don't expect to see him any time soon.
